Dr. T.D. Fleming Obituary

Dr. Thomas Dean (T.D.) Fleming, 82, of Frontenac, died Thursday, Aug. 13, 2015 in the comfort of his beautiful home.
He was born April 14, 1933 in Lake City, to James Wilfred (Bill) and Nadine (Mills) Fleming. Tom graduated from Red Wing Central High School and then served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 during the Korean Conflict and continued on in the Army Reserves until 1960.  Tom graduated from the University of Wisconsin, River Falls and earned his DDS from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry.  Upon dental school completion, he returned to Red Wing where he joined his father Bill and uncle Hiram at the Fleming Dental Office for over 30 years.
Tom was an avid trap shooter, duck hunter, and fisherman. One of his favorite mottos was “make do, fix up, wear out.” Being true to that, Tom could fix anything. He had a stoic wisdom in his approach to all matters in life. Tom lived simply, and enjoyed life fully with a deep appreciation of the outdoors and the natural order of everything.
Survivors include son, Dr. Todd (Shari) Fleming; two grandchildren, Alexandra (Matthew) Fleming Crnobrna and James Harrison Fleming of Minnetonka; half–sister, Margaret; and many loving nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Jim, and beloved significant other of 30 years, Nancy Pearson.
Heartfelt thanks to the amazing home care workers Missy, Dawn, Jill, Pam, and Judy who lovingly took care of Tom in his final days.
Funeral was Thursday, Aug. 20 at the Mahn Family Funeral Home, Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing. Burial with full military honors followed at the Oakwood Cemetery.  Online condolences may be sent to www.mahnfamilyfu neralhome.com.
