Duane "Dewey" Hanson Obituary
Duane “Dewey” Hanson, 82, of Faribault, Minn., died Saturday, May 6, 2017 at St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault.
Memorial services will be held at First English Lutheran Church in Faribault on Thursday, May 11, at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Mark Johnson officiating. Interment will be held at Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault with military rites provided by the Rice County Veterans Association.
Memorial visitation will be held at Boldt Funeral Home in Faribault on Wednesday, May 10, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. and also at the church for one hour prior to the services on Thursday.
James Duane, the son of James and Elsie (Martin) Hanson was born on Nov. 23, 1934 in Spring Grove, Minn. He graduated from Decorah High School in Decorah, Iowa. He married the love of his life, Dorothy Ann Bakken, on Oct. 10, 1954 in Decorah. They were married for 62 wonderful years. Dewey served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Faribault American Legion Post 43. He was formerly employed by L. S. Sorem and Associates as a salesman for many years, later by Rice County Sheriff’s Department as a jailer and by St. Luke’s Church, Faribault, as a custodian. Dewey enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was known for his witty sense of humor and his love of cars.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three children, Debbie (Donnie) Husbyn of Zumbrota, Doreen (Jim) Schuchard of Old Frontenac, and David (Jill) Hanson of Faribault; six grandchildren, Brady (Senna Desjardins) Husbyn, Matthew Husbyn, Stephanie (Allen Pyfferoen) Husbyn, Mitchell Hanson, Morgan (Ryan) Benrud, and Mason Hanson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Ethel (Clifford) Kroshus.
