Evelyn Lu Zell Obituary

The memorial service for Evelyn Lu Zell will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 13, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City with Father Joseph P. Pete officiating.  Burial will follow the service in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Lake City.
    Ms. Zell, 87, a lifetime resident of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Care Center in Lake City.
    Evelyn Lu Zell was born April 3, 1930 in Lake City to Alfred and Alice (Fick) Zell.  She attended the Mary E. McCahill School in Lake City.  She was a member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church.
    Evelyn Lu was a cook at the Mary E. McCahill School for several years until its closing.  She then cooked at the Lake City Country Club until she retired.  Evelyn Lu enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends, and doing craft projects.  She loved working in her gardens both flower and vegetable, and especially enjoyed her bountiful garden produce.  Evelyn Lu was the caretaker of the whole family and loved spending time with all of them.  
    Evelyn Lu is survived by her sister, Mary Alice Zell, and brother, Willard (Shirley) Zell, both of Lake City; niece’s, Jayne Zell of Lake City and Mary Patrice (Timothy) Dallman of Rochester; and nephew Mark (MaryG) Zell of Round Rock, Texas.  She was preceded in death by her parents.
    Friends and family may visit from 10  a.m. until the time of service at the church on Saturday, May 13.
