Ila Jacob obituary

Ila Ann Jacob, age 87, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 29 at the Bluffs in Lake City. She was born on Dec. 9, 1932 in Lake City to Fritz and Emma Hoops. Ila attended Oak Center grade school and graduated from Lincoln High School. On Dec. 28, 1951 she married William Henry Jacob.
Ila was very active at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church where she was a member of E.C.W., alter guild, reader, chalice bearer and contributed many meals for Soup Supper. Ila’s also created many beautiful floral arrangements for the annual St. Mark’s Church Christmas Bazaar.
Ila was also President of the Bittersweet Garden Club, flower judge for the State of Minnesota and Federated Garden Club. She volunteered many hours at the Lake City Nursing Home delivering mail and visiting with the residents. For fun, Ila enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, gardening, baking, spending time with her grandchildren and creating floral arrangements.
Best of all, Ila was a great Mom to her four daughters and the member of the “Dead End Gang of Sixth Street”. She always welcomed the neighborhood kids into her home. Her love for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren was never ending.
Ila is survived by her four daughters, Vickie (Randy) Ahrens of Lake City, Deb Koch of Regina, Canada, Sandy (Peter) Coyle of Apple Valley and Lisa (Wade) Koch of Edenwold, Canada; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Faye Busch of Lake City, Loa Lorentzen of Apple Valley and Ronnie Hoops of Lake City.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and sister Una.
Mom - “May your beautiful smile and style shine on in heaven. We love You.”
A private graveside memorial will be held in June of 2021. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer’s Society of St. Croix Hospice. Online condolences can be left at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
