James Anderson obituary

Former Lake City resident James E. Anderson, 79, died Sunday, Oct. 4, 2020 at home in Westfield, Ind. after an extended fight with Parkinson’s disease.
Jim was born in Lake City, Minn. in May 1941, the eighth child of Francis R. and Elizabeth K. (Lutz) Anderson. After the untimely deaths of his parents, he was raised by his oldest sister, Mary Agnes Nibbe and also his brother, Jack.
After graduating Lincoln High School in 1958, he joined the Navy and served as a meteorologist. After the Navy, he enrolled at Winona State where he met the great love of his life, Naomi. After much convincing on his part, they were married in 1967.  Many shenanigans and adventures followed.
Jim enjoyed fly fishing, camping trips with his extended family, ironing his jeans, spoiling his dogs and granddogs, catering to his wife, keeping his yard immaculate, and getting to church an hour early on major religious holidays.
He was a member of St. Lukes United Methodists Church in Indianapolis and a member of the Lake City American Legion Post #110.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Naomi; children Tim (who finally cemented his role as the favorite by helping take care of his father in the end), Kristina (Darryl) Schriner, and Jenna (Bill) Lightcap; one grandson, James Schriner; sisters-in-law Toni Anderson and Joanne Gilbertson; brother-in-law Kip Gilbertson; and so many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Glenn “Andy”, Mary Agnes Nibbe, Betty Haglund, Jack, Sue Anderson, Bill and Fred.  Also his most treasured golden retriever, Molly Moo Cow, who we imagine is howling up a storm at their reunion and wondering what the hell took him so long.
There will not be a funeral as he left his body to science in hope that a cure for Parkinson’s disease be found.
A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
