James Kohrs obituary

James “Jim” William Kohrs passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026 at Dignity Health Hospital in Henderson, Nevada surrounded by his loving family. He was 80 years old.
Jim was born on July 27, 1945 to William and Melva (Atkinson) Kohrs, raised on a dairy farm, and he learned the values of hard work and family from an early age.
He graduated from Lake City High School and later attended college before beginning a career with National Cash Register (NCR).
Jim’s career took him around the world, including assignments in Vietnam, Korea, Hawaii, California, Ohio, and Minnesota. In 1975 he married the love of his life, Hea Sun Hyun. Together they built a loving home and raised two sons, Christopher and Nathan.
Jim will be remembered for his love for his family, attending all the boys’ sporting events, camping with the family, and spending time with his grandson, Tyler. Jim loved working on engines and could be found fine-tuning his vehicles for speed and performance.
Jim is survived by his loving wife Hea Sun, his sons Christopher (Trish) of Los Angeles, California and Nathan (Andrea) of Henderson, Nevada; grandson Tyler of Los Angeles, California; sisters Gerolyn (David) New of Australia and Donna (Steve) Harrison; and his brother Dale (Sharleen) Kohrs of Lake City, Minnesota; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents William and Melva Kohrs, his grandparents Carsten and Carie Kohrs, Forrest and Lorena Atkinson, his sister Cheryl Sue Kohrs, his brother David Kohrs and his Aunt Esther Kohrs.
The funeral was held on July 11 at Henderson Christ Love Church in Henderson, Nevada.
