John Tomfohrde
John Michael Tomfohrde, 41, of Lake City, Minnesota passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Mayo Clinic Health System – Lake City Hospital. He was born on June 8, 1984, in Lake City, Minnesota to Michael and Mary (Beaham) Tomfohrde. He grew up attending Bluffview Elementary School and Lincoln High School in Lake City, and graduated from Howards Grove High School in Howards Grove, Wisconsin in 2002. He went on to attend and graduate from Motorcycle Mechanics Institute in Phoenix, Arizona.
John moved back to Lake City in 2005 where he worked as a motorcycle mechanic. On May 14, 2011, he married the love of his life, Tessa Johnson in Wabasha, Minnesota. They made their home in Lake City where they were raising their three daughters. John enjoyed going motorcycling and snowmobiling with his family and friends. He also liked to customize trucks, sharing his bad Dad jokes with his daughters, and loved to spend time conversing with friends.
John is survived by his loving wife, Tessa Tomfohrde, their three daughters, Hannah, Olivia, and Alexis, all of Lake City; his mother and step-father, Mary and Jeff Sayler of Hastings; a brother, Joe (Tammy) Tomfohrde of Speedwell, Tenn. and a sister, Hope Tomfohrde of Freeville, N.Y.; grandmother, Elaine Kohrs of Lake City; mother and father-in-law, Bert (Bryon) Wendt of Ellsworth, Wis.; brothers-in-law, Paul Johnson of Ellsworth, Wis.and Jim (Kasey) Johnson of Hager City, Wis.; sisters-in-law, Christa (Dan) Kelley of Hager City, Wis. and Pam McKenzie of Plum City, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held for John on Friday, October 10, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Schleicher Funeral Homes, Lake Chapel.
