Marian Dohrn Obituary

Marian Dohrn, 82, died Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at her home in Plainview.
    Marian was born Aug. 30, 1934 in West Albany Township, Wabasha County to Henry and Lillie (Hinck) Prigge. She attended Wheelan Country School District No. 22 in West Albany through the seventh grade, then completed the eighth grade at St. John’s Parochial School in Lake City and graduated from Lincoln High School in Lake City in 1952. On May 3, 1953 she married Donald Dohrn at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Lake City. While Donald was in the service they lived briefly in Fort Campbell, Ky. In 1955 after Donald’s discharge from the service, they farmed for four years in West Albany Township. They then farmed for 17 years in Glasgow Township. In 1976 they moved north of Plainview and farmed until moving into Plainview in 1982 and retiring from farming. Marian then was employed at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester until 2000 and then worked for Peoples State Bank in Plainview for six years.
    Marian was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Plainview. She enjoyed baking, gardening, canning and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
    She is survived by her husband, Donald of Plainview; six children, Donnie (Monica) of Zumbrota, Kenny (Vicky) of Lake City, Jerry of Mazeppa, Janet Koball of Rochester, Randy of Plainview and Rick of Elgin; 24 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Jean (Conrad) Lechelt of Pine Island; and one brother, Louis (Esther) Prigge of Lake City. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, John Prigge; and son-in-law, Rich Koball.
    Funeral service is Monday, April 24, 11 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview with Pastor Phil Augustine officiating. Burial is at Greenwood Cemetery in Plainview. Visitation is Sunday, April 23, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Schad and Zabel Funeral Home in Plainview and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
