Peter Webster Obituary
A memorial service for Peter Webster will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 26, at St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake City. Friends and family may visit one hour prior to the service at the church.
Mr. Webster, 91, of Lake City, passed away on Monday, July 10, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic Health Center – Lake City Care Center.
Peter McQuade Webster was born on Oct. 18, 1926, in St. Paul to William B. and Josephine D. Webster. Peter attended St. Thomas College and Rasmussen Business School. He entered the Navy in October 1943 and served as a radio operator aboard the U.S. General C.G. Morton for 21 months, and later discharged in 1946.
On June 18, 1951 Peter began work at the Lake City State Bank. In February of 1952 Peter married Barbara Heck. They made their home in Lake City and raised four children. Peter worked for the bank for 40 years and retired in September 1991. During those years he served on the Lake City School Board for 12 years. He also was on the Lake City Hospital and Nursing Home Board from 1985-1998, at which time the Mayo Health System took over from the city, he served on the Mayo Health System Board as a trustee from 1998-2007. Peter also served as treasurer on the Old Frontenac Cemetery board from 1986-2002.
Peter is survived by four children, Anne (Randy) Olson, Nora (Kent) Reimann, Mary (Jay) Becker, and Kevin (Nancy) Webster; and a brother, Byron (Karen). Peter and Barb were blessed with five grandchildren, Nicholas and Barry Reimann, Andrew Becker, and Nathan and Haley Webster. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara, brothers, Devereux and Bill, and a grandson, Nicholas Reimann.
Memorials are preferred to Old Frontenac Cemetery or St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church.
