Randi Carlson Obitiuary

Randi Jane (Dahling) Carlson, 65, of Goodhue, died Monday, April 24, 2017, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, Methodist Campus in Rochester, with her loving family by her side.  
    She was born on Jan. 11, 1952, in Zumbrota to Melfred and Marjorie (Frank) Dahling.  She graduated from Goodhue High School in 1970.  Following graduation, she trained as a medical secretary at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, where her career spanned over 40 years.  She was blessed to work with some premier physicians in the world.  She married Charles Allen Carlson on Oct. 7, 1972, at St. John’s Lutheran Church rural Goodhue.  Charlie was the love of her life until his death on Aug. 26, 2007.  She missed him each and every day thereafter.  In addition to being a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Randi was privileged to attend St. John’s School through the eighth grade.  Her passions were reading, and being with her close friends and her family.
    Randi is survived by her mother, Marjorie Dahling; two sisters, Deborah (David) Gnotke and Roxanne (Richard) Lodermeier, both of Goodhue; one brother, Michael (Robin) Dahling of Goodhue; five nieces, Heather (Jeff) Tietje, Katie (Jeremy) Schafer, Ashley (Dan) Agenten, Leah Dahling and Brittney (Phil) Zorn; four nephews, Ross Gnotke, (Heidi Jacquart), Lucas (Margot) Dahling, Brent (Christie) and Tyler (Debbie) Lodermeier; 20 great-nieces and -nephews; and her cat, Pancer Paws.  Randi is also survived by her mother-in-law, Pauline Carlson, brothers-in-law, Terry (LaVonne) Carlson, David (Mary) Carlson and Michael (Hettie) Carlson, all of Vasa; one sister-in-law, Carol (Jeff) Bengston of Burnsville; seven Carlson nieces and nephews; and 13 Carlson great-nieces and -nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; her father, Melfred and father-in-law, Virgil Carlson.
    Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 27, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 36620 County 4 Blvd., rural Goodhue with Rev. Kurt Hagen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.  Casketbearers will be her nephews, Ross Gnotke, Lucas Dahling, Brent and Tyler Lodermeier and her godsons, Scott Hinsch and Jerod Thomforde.  Honorary casketbearers will be her nieces, Heather Tietje, Katie Schafer, Ashley Agenten, Leah Dahling and Brittney Zorn.  Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 26 at St. John's Lutheran Church and for one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Memorials are preferred to the St. John’s Church or School or the donor’s choice.
