Richard Lemke Obituary

Richard “Dick” R. Lemke, 86, of Lake City and formerly of Mazeppa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System Care Center in Lake City.
    Richard Roland Lemke was born on June 11, 1930 in Red Wing to Frank and Leona (Lemmerman) Lemke. Dick was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Red Wing and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Bear Valley. He graduated from the Mazeppa High School in 1948. Richard married Jane Miller on Oct. 21, 1950 in Mazeppa and they farmed there until moving to Oak Center in 1956. He was a legislator from 1971-1978. Richard was state director of the ASCS. for three years, House Transportation director for 1978-1980, and lobbyist for REA from 1980-1990. He played with the Country Boys Dance Band for 10 years. Richard enjoyed spending winters in Arizona. His wife Jane passed away on Feb. 9, 1999 in Arizona. On July 24, 2004, Richard married Diane Fick-Siems at Lincoln Church.
    Richard is survived by his wife, Diane Lemke, Mazeppa; four children, Barbara Brown, and Gayle Lemke, both of Rochester, Beverly (Jim) Adams, Zumbro Falls and Michael (Kim Coy) Lemke, Overland Park, Kan.; two step children, Debra (Barry) Kautz, Zumbrota and Daniel (Jackie) Siems, Granger, Iowa; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two step grandsons; two step brothers-in-law, Emery (Vicky) Fick and Gerald (Arlene) Fick, both of Lake City; and two sisters-in-law, Doris Miller, Zumbrota and Mary (Don) Lamb, of Lake City. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Jane, and brother-in-law, Richard Miller.
    A funeral service will be Wednesday, Oct. 19, 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church – Lincoln, Lake City with Pastor Dan Reich officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 18 at Schleicher Funeral Home, Lake City and one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, Bear Valley, Mazeppa.
