Rozella Lloyd Obituary

The family of Rozella Lloyd mourns her passing April 17, 2016 just shy of her 100th birthday.
    She was born June 26, 1916 in Ronneby, Minn. She met Delton Roschen in Lake City where they married and started a family. They moved to St. Paul for employment opportunities, then back to Lake City to retire.  After Delton’s death (1980) she returned to St. Paul. She met Howard Lloyd through mutual friends and they married in 1986. Howard was drawn to the charm of Lake City and purchased a home here. Once again, Rozella returned to the area for retirement. After Howard’s death (1994) in order to be closer to family, she moved to West St. Paul where she resided in her apartment until her passing.
    Rozella’s faith and church were very important to her.  She had an active life tending her family, and worked as a caregiver and house cleaner, earning her the reputation of “the corner inspector”.  Hobbies and interests included maintaining friendships, housekeeping, dancing, telling stories, shopping, tending her patio garden and getting “dolled up”.  She took satisfaction in maintaining her appearance, looking decades younger than her near-centenarian status.  She claimed the secret to longevity was ice cream, candy and having a margarita once in a while.  Most of all Rozella loved her family, relishing the roles of mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.  All who met her appreciated her warm personality, great sense of humor, fashionable style and impish eyes.
    She is survived by son, Armon (Nancy) Roschen; daughter, Betty Lou Erickson; son-in-law, Michael Parish; former daughter-in-law, Rosemarie Anderson; and stepdaughter-in-law Marlene Lloyd; grandchildren, Kim McMonigal (Eric Talsness), Kelly  (Keith) Kivi, Kurt Roschen; Jay Erickson, Lee Erickson; Chris Angell, and Kari (Dan aka “Wes”) Westerhaus; great-grandchildren, Jacob Erickson; Casey (Shane) Opdahl, Reilly McMonigal, Carl and Brian Mitchell, Brandon and Megan Vogt, Alyson, Lauren, and Faith Westerhaus; great-great-grandchildren, Elliana (born on Rozella’s 99th birthday) and Kendalyn Vogt; as well as a host of nieces and nephews and their families.  Rozella was predeceased by all her siblings, husbands Delton Roschen and Howard Lloyd, daughter Rozella Parish, sons-in-law Richard Angell and Allen Erickson, stepson Richard Lloyd, and granddaughter Kendall Vogt.  
    The funeral service will be Friday, April 22, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 7600 Cahill Avenue, Inver Grove Heights, officiated by her beloved Pastor Orval Osmundson with music provided by Lisa Langton. Visitation at 10 a.m. with service to follow at 11 a.m. Burial will be the same day in Lake City at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery with graveside service at 3 p.m.
