Sharon Norberg obituary
Sharon (Shari) Norberg, 85, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 17, 2025, at the Elysian Senior Homes of Lake City, Minnesota. The daughter of Eldon and Donna Wiebusch, Shari was a native of Lake City, attending elementary, middle, and high school, where she was Homecoming Queen. After studying nursing in Chicago, Shari returned to Lake City to marry Bob Norberg, the love of her life and devoted partner for 64 years. They shared a rich and adventurous life together. They lived for a time in Iowa, where their three children were born. They soon moved to Dhahran, Saudi Arabia, where they spent over 20 years, raising their family and traveling the world. Here, Shari worked as a nursing assistant and as an elementary school librarian and teachers’ aide. They later moved to Washington, D.C., before coming full circle — returning “home” to Lake City in 2004.
Everywhere they lived, Shari made close friends, volunteered in the community, and managed the Norberg household. In addition to being a devoted and loving wife and mother, she was a great cook and had a reputation for hosting delicious and entertaining dinner parties and family holiday gatherings. Shari was an avid bridge player. Shari and her Bob loved to play with friends, community bridge groups, and in national and international tournaments. She loved gardening, taking joy in her involvement over the years with the Lake City Garden Club and the gorgeous flowerbeds that surrounded their home. Beautiful on the inside and out, Shari was always caring, modest, and believed strongly in social justice.
Shari is survived by her brother Robert Wiebusch of Lake City; three children, Scott (Joyce) Norberg of Coral Gables, Florida, Robin (Mike) Kennedy of Dunn Loring, Virginia, and Jeff (Connie) Norberg of Orange, Virginia; and seven grandchildren, Grace, Christian (Sara), Allison (Joey), Lyndsey (Gary), Timothy, Nathan, and Nicholas. Her husband Bob predeceased her in 2023, and Shari was bereft. She is fiercely loved and greatly missed by her family, and we are comforted to know that she and Bob are now together again in a place of peace and happiness.
True to her spirit of giving, Shari made the generous choice to donate her body to the Mayo Clinic Body Donation Program for scientific research. A Celebration of Life will be held on September 27.
