Terrance Walker obituary

Terrance “Terry” Eugene Walker, 84, of Lake City, Minn. passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at home surrounded by his family. Terry was born on July 22, 1941, in Mankato, Minn. to Kenneth and Vivian (Eastman) Walker.
In 1959 he graduated from Mabel-Canton High School and later that year enlisted in the United States Army.  After a two-year stint as a driver/mechanic he returned home to the Mabel area and operated a service station. It was during that time he met the love of his life, Karen (Sears) Walker, and they were married on June 8, 1963 – spending the next 62 years together. Later in 1963 he rejoined the Army and spent the next 20 years serving his country in places like South Korea, Germany, and El Paso, Texas. During those years Terry and Karen had five young boys or Army brats. When Terry retired from the Army he returned home to Lake City, Minn. and started his own successful business – “Walker’s Canvas & Upholstery,” which operated for nearly three decades. Although he was an extremely hard worker Terry found time to enjoy life; he loved his RV and traveled the countryside spending many winters camping out in Las Vegas and South Padre Island. He loved his pets Jenny, Squeaky, Charlie 1 and Charlie 2 (all will be buried with him), he loved going to casinos playing blackjack and was constantly trying to learn how to count cards and beat the system. In his retirement years he loved sitting by the computer day-trading stocks hoping to strike it rich.
Terry is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Karen (Sears) Walker; sons Tim (Marcy) Walker, Todd (Tena) Walker, Matt Jacobs, Dan (Andi) Walker, and Terry (Mary) Walker II; grandchildren Caleb (Marissa) Crosby, Jacob Crosby, Laura Walker, Olivia Walker, Luke Walker, Josh Walker, Anna (Kauy) Heins, and Dakota (Hailey) Winchell. Also surviving are four great-grandchildren Cylus, Miles, Kailer, and Elliot: his sisters-in-laws Pat Walker and Leona Walker, and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and extended family.
Terry was proceeded in death by his parents Kenneth and Vivian Walker; sister, Carmen Steinberg; brothers, Bud, Royce, and twin-brother Tom Walker; brother-in-law Ron Steinberg and sister-in-law Judy Walker.
A celebration of Terry’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 11 (Veterans Day) at Mahn Family Funeral Home in Lake City. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with service following at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Lakewood Cemetery. Online condolences may be placed at www.mahnfamilyfuneralhome.com.
