Troy Severson Obituary
Troy Douglas Severson, 54, of Oak View, Calif. died suddenly of cancer on April 20, 2016.
Troy was born Feb. 10, 1962 in Minneapolis to Mary Lou Rothgarn Rocha and Dave Severson as the youngest of three children. The family moved to California in 1963 and Troy spent his pre-teen years in Orange County. Troy moved to Santa Barbara in 1978 where he attended high school. He quickly made life-long friendships and an artistic flare that developed into a 22 year career at Tri-Valley Trophy in Goleta. In 2001, Troy started his industrial engraving business, Severson Engraving. Troy married the girl of his dreams, Sami Glover, on Oct. 3, 2009. In July 2011, the couple purchased a unique church which they began to remodel into their home. Troy's personality and sense of humor made everyone feel welcome when he prepared his Cajun style food for family and friends. Troy and Sami were active in a pool league in Ojai and members of the Ojai Valley Moose Lodge.
Troy is survived by his wife, Sami Glover; his mother, Mary Lou (Vincent Jimmie) Rothgarn Rocha; his father, Dave Severson; sister, Dawn Root; brother, Todd (Marie) Severson of Lake City; niece, Alison (Brad) Harkins Kusek; nephew, Justin Harkins of Lake City; and many other relatives.
Troy will be missed dearly by many friends to whom the family extends their gratitude for their assistance.
A Celebration of Troy's life was held on April 28 at the Ojai Valley Moose Lodge. Donations can be made in Troy’s name to Serenity House, 930 Miramonte Drive, Santa Barbara, CA 93109.
