Virginia Anderson Obituary
Virginia Anderson, 91, of Lake City, passed away at home Tuesday, March 15, 2016.
She was born on Oct. 28, 1924 in Red Wing to Walter and Ruth (Olson) Nelson. She graduated in 1943 from Prescott High School. She moved to California where she worked in an ammunition plant during WWII.
She married Herbert Anderson on June 7, 1947 in Red Wing. They lived in Lake City. She worked at JC Penney and was a secretary for Dr. Bowers and Dr. Gjerde in Lake City. Virginia was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City. She also served on the church Ladies Aide as president and as vice president. She served as an election judge for 27 years. She enjoyed traveling, hunting and fishing.
She is survived by son, Gregory (Pam) Anderson of Lake City; three sisters, Alvina (Roger) Girdeen of Ellsworth, Wis., Delores Alcorn of California and Beverly (Don) Melstrom of Durand, Wis.; sister-in-law, Dorothy Anderson of Lake City; and brother-in-law, Robert Bradford, of Zephyr, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert; sisters, Madelyn Glem, Geneva Siepelmeyer, Davney Pasch and Dorene Bradford; and brother, Clifford Nelson.
Funeral service will be Friday, March 18, 2 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Church in Lake City with Rev. Scott Fiege officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Mahn Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Peterson Chapel, in Lake City, is in charge of arrangements.
