William Schroeder Obituary

William L. Schroeder, 81, of Lake City, passed away Friday, Dec. 9, 2016 at his home.
    William was born in January 1935 in Oconto, Wis. to Edmund and Roemilda (Martens) Schroeder. Bill grew up in Oconto and Menomonie, Wis. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, Kan. in 1953. He received the Honor of Eagle Scout in 1953. Bill joined the U.S. Navy and served from 1953 to 1957. He received a bachelor's degree from Kansas University in Lawrence Kansas in 1965. He then worked in private practice from 1965 to 1972 in La Crosse, Wis. Bill worked as the county architect for Hennepin County from 1972 to 1999. He was also the assistant director of property management and the Environmental Health and Safety Program manager. He retired in 1999. Bill married Barbara Reed in July 1981 in Minneapolis.
    Bill is survived by his wife, Barabara of Lake City; two daughters, Catherine Broberg of St Louis Park and Linda (Charles) Weidner of Grafton, Wis.; four grandchildren, Marty and Nick Broberg and Emily and Rachel Weidner; two sisters, Patricia Jansky of York, Pa., and Valarie MacGregor of Kansas City, Kan.; nephews and nieces; also his two dogs, Pierre and Charlie. He was preceded in death by his parents.
    A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum in Chanhassen, Minn.
