Halvorson: Night sky is a beautiful sight

As I watched the light crew replace the incandescent bulbs with LED in the lovely old lamp posts, I couldn’t help but wonder how many of this generation have ever seen total darkness.
There was a time when there were no yard lights or street lights. I remember on hot summer nights when it was too hot to sleep, there was no air conditioning, Mom would spread a blanket out on the lawn and we’d lay and look up at the stars.
