Letter: America isn’t just one thing, and it’s constantly (and deliciously) evolving
Assimilate to American society or leave.
I keep hearing some version of that statement. I read it on Facebook, hear it from politicians and political candidates, and hear it around town.
But what exactly is the American society we’re asking people to assimilate into? What pocket of America has it perfect? I’ve traveled to many parts of this country and met incredible people along the way. One of my favorite things about those experiences is that every place was different.
