Girls tennis team wins quarterfinal match
The Lake City girls Tiger tennis team opened the Section 1A team tournament with a quarterfinal bout with St. Croix Lutheran Academy on Oct. 5 and came away with the sweep 7-0.
Due to inclement weather in Lake City the match was moved to Red Wing.
In singles play, Ava Wallerich won 6-0, 6-0 over Takara Morita at No. 1 singles.
Ashley Thieren won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 singles over Nano Fukuda.
At No. 3 singles, Sarah Ziebarth was in control 6-0, 6-2 over Kate Tran.
Maddie Medvec strolled 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles over Kanari Yamakazi.
