Strong individual performances don’t translate to wins for Tiger girls
The Lake City girls basketball team faced a challenging week against three strong opponents, finishing with losses to Plainview-Elgin Millville (PEM), Zumbrota-Mazeppa, and Lourdes. Despite the results, the Tigers showed resilience and continued to find offensive production from multiple players as they pushed through a demanding stretch of the schedule.
On Monday night, Lake City fell to PEM 69-51 behind a standout performance from Lauryn Stolzenberg, who poured in 26 points while adding seven rebounds and two steals. Audrina Meyer chipped in 12 points and three rebounds, while Jillian Hoyer added six points and five boards as the Tigers battled throughout the contest.
The Tigers returned to the court Tuesday against Zumbrota-Mazeppa and were led by Delilah Benjamin’s strong all-around effort. Benjamin scored 23 points to go along with seven rebounds and four steals, while Hoyer contributed 10 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Lauryn Stolzenberg added seven points, and Faith Bonde pulled down eight rebounds in the 56-46 loss.
Lake City closed the week Thursday night against Lourdes, falling 82-54, but once again received steady scoring from Stolzenberg, who finished with 23 points and four rebounds. Hoyer added 14 points, while Lexi Majerus and Delilah Benjamin each contributed five points in the effort.
With the three games, the Tigers move to 10-10 on the season and have five regular season games remaining.
Lake City will look to build on the individual performances from the week as they prepare for the final stretch of the schedule and postseason play.
