Adventure can't wait: New Yorker descends the Mississippi on paddleboard

A New York woman aiming to be just the second person to paddleboard from the source of the Mississippi River to the Gulf of Mexico passed through Lake City over the weekend.

LouAnne Harris arrived at Hok-Si-La Park in Lake City on Friday, Sept. 6.

She began her journey at Lake Itasca on Aug. 11 and hopes to make it to the Gulf of Mexico in early November.

If she makes it, she’ll be just the second person and first woman, as far a she’s aware, to complete the entire trek on a paddleboard.
