Class aims to prevent bleeding deaths

Studies indicate that one in five deaths involving uncontrolled bleeding could have been prevented, Michael Rodman said at one of several bleeding control classes offered by the Lake City Ambulance Service on March 31.
“The only thing more tragic than death is a death that could have been prevented,” he said.
Injuries can happen in the workplace, at home, in car accidents, or in mass shootings and other violent acts.
A severed vein or artery can prove fatal in minutes, possibly before medical first responders can arrive on the scene.
