Corrected: Cliff and Coulee Climbers meet Oct. 26 in Lake City
Cliff and Coulee Climbers snowmobile club encourages “snowmobile enthusiasts to attend [their] next meeting on Oct. 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Lake City VFW to learn more about opportunities to support our trail system (pizza and beverages will be provided).”
Monthly meetings are held every fourth Monday from September through April.
Cliff and Coulee Climber Snowmobile Club maintains 56 miles of trails southeast of Hwy. 63 in Lake City. Their trails connect to Wabasha, Theilman, Millville, Zumbro Falls, and Bellechester.
“We get permission from landowners who so generously allow our trails to cross their property. Without these landowners, we would have no trail system,” the club said.
MN United Snowmobilers Association is the Minnesota snowmobile organization that supports all Minnesota snowmobile clubs (https://mnusa.org). Local clubs handle the hands-on work—clearing brush, signing, and grooming over 22,000 miles of Minnesota trails—while MnUSA provides the legislative representation, administrative structure, and statewide coordination needed to sustain those efforts.
Minnesota DNR gives each county an appropriation of Grant-In-Aid (GIA) money based on the number of miles of trails its clubs maintain. The money comes from membership dues and a portion of gas taxes and snowmobile registrations. This is why it’s important to keep snowmobile registrations current, the club said.
The funds are then used for trail maintenance such as purchasing equipment to assist with trail work (like material needed for making bridges, chain saws, brush trimmers, etc), as well as purchasing a groomer and maintaining it, and paying for fuel used in the groomer while grooming trails.
The majority of Cliff and Coulee Climbers’ working members are ages 66-78. They are looking for more snowmobile enthusiasts to help carry the torch of this sport into the future.
Youth are encouraged to volunteer to accumulate service hours.
The club’s Facebook page is Cliff & Coulee Climbers Snowmobile Club.

To view all snowmobile trails and keep up with any updates such as trail closures in certain areas, the Polaris Ride Command app is supported by all trail systems in the state.
