Free exercise programs designed to reduce the risk of falling

Residents in the Lake City area are invited to participate in two free exercise programs, geared toward older adults.

Both programs offer exercises that build strength and balance to decrease the risk of falling, according to Active Aging Programs, which sponsors the programs.

The Arthritis Foundation Exercise Program (AFEP) is an evidence based program. A variety of range-of-motion and endurance building exercises, flexibility improving and relaxation techniques are taught in this program utilizing hand weights and stretch bands.
