Humane society: critical need for foster homes
The Hiawatha Animal Humane Society (HAHS) currently has an urgent need for volunteer families who are willing to open their homes to the animals awaiting adoption.
As they move closer to spring, housing for both cats and dogs of all ages is needed. The need is even greater for cats, because they generally have four times as many cats as dogs at any given time.
A typical stay in foster care is between one and two months, though age and condition of the animal determines the exact time needed in care. Some are adopted quickly, others stay as long as necessary.
