Hundreds take to Frontenac Pond for fish and fun

The Frontenac Sportsman’s Club’s ice fishing contest on Saturday, Feb. 12, attracted hundreds of anglers and others for a chilly but eventful day on the ice of Frontenac Pond.

The contest began at 1 p.m. and at 1:34 p.m. an announcement came over the loudspeaker that all of the 400 door prizes had been distributed to contestants.

“Hootenanny!,” the announcer exclaimed.

Besides fishing and cash raffle, there was a gun raffle, minnow eating contest, ice auger contest, egg toss, several games of paddlewheel and probably even more.
