Joyce Zillgitt reflects on 70 years with church choir

“I’ve always had music in my life,” Joyce Zillgitt said. “My kindergarten teacher told my mother to make sure that I took piano lessons.”

Zillgitt continued her musical training at MacPhail School of Music.

In 1954, married and back living in Lake City, she joined St. John’s Lutheran Church and immediately became involved in the church choir.

Her involvement continued for seven decades: first as accompanist for 35 years, then as director for 35 years.
