Kites flown at Underwood Park

Peter Cross was experimenting with different kites and tails to see what would fly best in the gusty conditions at Underwood Park on June 26.

Cross, a retired Mayo Clinic internal medicine physician living on his boat in the Lake City marina, said he picked up kite flying from his younger brother.

“He’s into toys,” Cross said, “So he got me into kite flying. I do enjoy it.”

He said it was his first time flying kites at the park.

“I drove by Kwik Trip and just found this nice area,” he said.
