Lake City Historical Society: Not always what you’d expect
The photo accompanying this article was taken at the last Lake City Historical Society’s Open Hours event on Tuesday, Jan. 13. The topic offered was The Terrace Supper Club—a Lake City hotspot in the 1950s and 60s. We learned a lot about this nightclub at our gathering. We learned it was built from materials from an earlier nightclub and was the best place to dance for miles around. Several people met their future spouses there. The Campfire girls had father/daughter dances there and grandmothers brought along grandchildren to Thursday Bingo night. Just the kind of wholesome socializing you’d expect from Lake City, right?
