Lake City loses two community leaders
Lake City lost two active members of its business community last week.
Dean Kaartinen passed away Tuesday, July 3, at age 52. Cathy Nichols died on Saturday, July 7, at age 61.
Nichols owned Lake City’s AmericInn motel and other hotels in the region.
Kaartinen and his wife, Joan, ran Creative Minds in downtown Lake City.
Both volunteered their time to initiatives to improve Lake City.
Nichols was a member of the Lake City Tourism Bureau, the Lake City Chamber of Commerce, and the city’s Library Board.
