Legion donates Camp Lakeview rifles to military history museum

The Lake City American Legion Post 110 recently donated two rifles used in training national guardsmen at Camp Lakeview National Guard training camp, according to a news release.

These included an 1884 Springfield and an 1886 Springfield Armory rifle used by guardsmen at the former training camp south of Lake City in the late 1880s.

The Minnesota Military Museum at Camp Ripley is scheduled to break ground for a new 40,000 SF military museum outside the gates of Camp Ripley this summer with a planned grand opening of the new museum in the summer of 2025.
