Local donkey making noise in America's Favorite Pet contest

Lena has been part of the Lewis family of rural Lake City so long that the three siblings that are now her caretakers think of her as a sister.

The donkey first came to the farm on Territorial Road as a boarder decades ago. When her owner died, he willed Lena to the Lewis’s, according to Karen Lewis Turnbell.

When Karen’s parents John and Marie Lewis (longtime Santa and Mrs. Claus in Lake City) passed away, the farm passed to Karen and her siblings Kay Hanson and Keith Lewis. And with the farm came its lone animal, Lena.
