Non-profit suggests alternatives if suicide hotline is backlogged

The National Alliance on Mental Illness for Southeastern Minnesota is reporting that the National Suicide Hotline is at times encountering an extreme backlog of calls. Callers are experiencing a rollover for their call with no explanation. The wait exists both through their telephone lines and through their on-line chat services.
National Suicide Hotline staff are trained in suicide prevention. However NAMI offers these alternatives if immediate assistance is not available through the hotline.
