Thanks to a donation from Peters Memorial Fund (PMF), you don’t need to own skates or even know how to skate to use the city’s ice rink at Underwood Park.
Skates sized for toddlers and up line the back wall of the warming house, along with accessories like helmets and skate helpers. Lake City Streets and Parks Department, which operates the rink and warming house, installed hooks for the skates that will allow them to dry between uses.
Katie Rawlings of PMF said the donation to purchase the items was between $3,000 and $4,000.
