Rest Island figured big in alcohol prohibition
Lake City, and specifically Rest Island on the north edge of town, played a key role in local and state efforts to enforce prohibition at the end of the 19th century.
That history will be spelled out in a Goodhue County Historical Society program to be held in Red Wing Nov. 19.
The program is being conducted in conjunction with the county museum’s display on Central Point Township.
The township exhibit will be up through the end of January. It is part of a series of exhibits featuring townships in Goodhue County.
