Tour De Pepin's monster year

It didn’t rain on this year’s Tour De Pepin, but it was hot.

Ice cream cones at Flat Pennies in Bay City were a hot commodity. Over 246 were distributed to riders of the 72- and 100-mile courses, up about 100 from last year, according to Lake City Chamber of Commerce Interim Events Coordinator Brandy Geolat.

There were some cramps due to heat, and some riders had to be picked up by rider support, but all-in-all the 10th annual ride around Lake Pepin was a successful event, organizers say.
