Bartsh announces retirement, candidates for sheriff emerge

At least two candidates are seeking to be the next Wabasha County Sheriff.

Current Sheriff Rodney Bartsh announced last week that he would be retiring from law enforcement and would not be seeking another term as sheriff in the November election.

“The time has come to put a greater emphasis on my family which, often over the years, has taken a backseat to my job,” Bartsh wrote in a letter to county citizens that can be read in its entirety on page 4 this issue.

He thanked his family, supporters and county citizens.
