The vacancy created by the departure of Lake City Planning and Community Development Director Megan Smith is being filled temporarily by her predecessor in the role.
On Monday the city council unanimously included additional compensation of roughly $1,500 every two-week pay period for City Administrator Rob Keehn for the 10-12 hours a week he expects to spend on planning tasks. The money will come from the planning department budget.
Mayor Mark Nichols, a member of the city personnel commission, explained the rationale to the council.
