City approves long-awaited alley stormwater project

A long-term stormwater problem affecting an alley in downtown Lake City appears to have a solution.

Known as Block 15, the block is bounded by Lyon Avenue, Washington Street, Center Street, and Lakeshore Drive. It’s occupied mainly by businesses with some second floor apartments.

For years, property owners, who jointly own the alley, have faced basement flooding and other issues related to stormwater runoff. The city said stormwater issues have damaged both public and private infrastructure.
