City council eliminates meter reader position

As of Tuesday, the Lake City Public Utilities no longer has a meter reader.

The Lake City City Council voted Monday night to eliminate the position. A second vote approved a severance package for the city’s now-former meter reader Ed Borner.

In a letter from city Public Works Director Scott Jensen to City Administrator Rob Keehn that was included in Monday night’s agenda packet, Jensen said the move was driven by a technological shift.
