City farmland goes on sale

Lake City is seeking bids on about 77 acres of farmland in Lake Township.

Bids are due by 4 p.m. on Jan. 24 and will be reviewed by the city council at its Feb. 10 meeting, according to a city request for bids. The minimum bid amount is $450,000.

The city used to dump solids from its waste treatment plant on the land. That use proved controversial, and eventually the city’s wastewater treatment plant was upgraded to handle the waste.
