The City of Lake City has received a $98,212 grant to help remove and replace 217 ash trees on city boulevards and city land over the next few years.
The invasive emerald ash borer insect native to Asia is lethal to local ash populations. Since its discovery in Lake City a few years ago, the city has adopted a strategy of trying to slow the spread locally to spread the costs of removal over several years.
