Council approves three-lane Highway 61

Vote is 5-2 to switch from 4-3

Andru Peters was passionate. The veteran City Council member whose career will end at the end of this year wants calmer traffic through downtown Lake City.

Peters, who lost his bid for re-election in last week’s primary election, joined four other council members Monday night in voting to reconfigure traffic on Highway 61 through Lake City from four lanes, two going each way, to three lanes, one in each direction plus a turning lane.
