Following court ruling, commissioners raise county attorney salary to $130,900

Wabasha County Commissioners on Nov. 18 approved a revised 2025 salary for County Attorney Matthew Stinson at $130,900, with pay retroactive to Jan. 1.

The County Board initially set Stinson’s 2025 salary at $110,000, which was lower than both his 2024 salary of $130,900 and his initial salary of $119,000 when he took office in 2023.

Stinson appealed the Board’s decision to the Third District Court, which held that the Board could not lower his salary back to its initial rate of $119,000 after it had given him a raise in 2024.
