Goodhue County Board asked to look at the big picture

   The 2016 budget once again dominated the July 21 Goodhue County Board meeting.

County Commissioner Dan Rechtzigel urged the three commissioners, Ted Seifert, Jason Majerus and Ron Allen, who had voted at the previous meeting to keep the levy flat next year, to determine quickly what programs will be cut or reduced.

He said, “It (the frozen levy) could be a good thing, if all the work is done to get there, but county staff have said there is a gaping budget hole.”

The deficit is estimated at $2.5 million dollars.
