Quist: Dedication evident in history essays bodes well for students’ futures

Last week the Lake City Historical Society, Greater Lake City Community Foundation (GLCCF), and high school officials presented $500 in cash prizes to the winning Lincoln High School contestants in the second annual “Why History Matters Essay Contest.”

Advanced Placement (AP) History students in Ross Fuchs’ class wrote more than 30 entries for this year’s contest. A teacher committee narrowed the field to a group of finalists and eventually to the two winners.
