Snow emergency averted in Lake City

When the predicted heavy snowfall totals failed to materialize overnight Monday, so did the snow emergency declaration that seemed all but certain earlier that day.

Wabasha County was under a National Weather Service winter storm warning from Monday, Dec. 28, until 6 a.m. the following morning, with up to 12 inches of snow accumulation possible.

A message sent out over the city’s CodeRed public alert system made Monday said a snow emergency would be declared.
