Snowstorm was earliest in years

The snowstorm of Tuesday, Oct. 20, was the earliest plow event in at least 22 years, according to City of Lake City Public Works Director Scott Jensen.

“The Halloween storm that is often referenced would be the earliest in our recollection and plowing likely started on Nov. 1,” he said of the 1991 storm.

Lake City has a snow emergency ordinance that goes into effect when snow accumulation hits or exceeds four inches. Parking on city streets during snow emergencies is prohibited until the street is plowed to the curb.
