State takes over Goodhue County landfill and potential multi-million dollar liability

Back in 2002, Greg Isakson, Director of Goodhue County Public Works, first began planning to hand off the reigns on the county landfill to the state, according to a Goodhue County news release. Due to the landfill being unlined, if contaminant sampling were to pass a certain threshold the State would require the County to invest in the cleanup of these contaminants.
